National Call For Scores 2012


chamber•sounds is looking for new music composed by
Singaporean composers for their recital in August 2012!

The recital will feature six world premieres,
including one by a student composer aged 18 and below.

Rules and regulations

  • Open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents only.
  • Two categories – Open and Youth (Youth category is open to composers aged 18 and below)
  • Up to five pieces from the Open category and one piece from the Youth category will be chosen.
  • Pieces chosen will have their world premiere at the chamber•sounds recital in August 2012. Pieces not chosen may be considered for future performances.
  • Compositions must be new and have not been performed or recorded.
  • Instrumentation: At least two or more different instruments from the list below.
    • Violin
    • Viola
    • Cello
    • Flute
    • Clarinet in B-flat
    • Baritone Saxophone
    • Piano
  • Duration: ten minutes or less.
  • Audio and video recordings (if any) will be made available to composers featured
    in the concert. (N.B. Composers will be required to sign a waiver allowing chamber•sounds to post audio and video clips on their official website.)

Submission requirements

  • No entry fee required, but only one submission is allowed per composer.
  • Composers 18 and below will be automatically considered in the Youth category, unless otherwise specified by the composer.
  • Send entries to chamber.sounds@gmail.com with the following information:
    • Full name
    • NRIC no.
    • Contact no.
    • Composer bio
    • Full score and parts combined in one PDF file with the title of the piece as the filename. (NB: The name of the composer should not appear in the score.)
    • MIDI realisation with the title of the piece as the filename
    • Manuscript must be neat and preferably typeset with a notation software.
  • Deadline: 31st March 2012
  • Composers whose pieces are chosen will be required to prove their nationality at a later date.
